Over the course of 14 years, we’ve grown and changed a lot as a company, and we’ve seen our industry and the world grow and change too. We’re proud of our business and think there’s a lot to love, and a lot that sets us apart. Here are just some of the things that make us who we are:
Our Team
Today, we’re a crew of just 7 people. Together, we design, produce, and sell thousands of candles and jewelry pieces a year – and those are just a portion of our offerings! Everyone at Often Wander wears multiple hats and works extremely hard, and we’re so proud of our staff and everything we’ve done together.
We’re Meticulous
Every decision we make has an enormous amount of thought behind it. We frequently brainstorm as a team, and are constantly workshopping and testing new things. We choose materials for our jewelry that are natural and made to last, while doing our best to keep prices reasonable. We choose fragrances, wax, wicks, and more to create clean-burning candles and other fragrance products that don’t cause irritation and are refillable for life.
We’re Focused on Sustainability
You know all those product details and business decisions we just mentioned? Sustainability is a huge influence on everything we do. We design jewelry we hope you’ll wear for a long time, and offer modifications and repairs so that you can do so.
We make our home fragrance using renewable resources like soy wax and cotton, and offer refills on every product we make to keep our packaging out of landfills. We choose glass and paper so that you can recycle these containers if you ultimately decide not to refill them. Many customers have noticed that we don’t have product boxes – that’s intentional too. More packaging creates more waste, and increases prices too. We recycle our shipping materials and hope you’ll use them again too.
We Offer Product Refills
As you may have heard, refillable products are a big deal for us. They’re kind of our whole thing. But they’re a big deal for you too! Every candle, diffuser, incense tube, perfume, bath salt, hair/beard oil, and hand sanitizer we make is refillable for half of its (full) retail price. Forever. This means once you have the vessel, bottle, or vial, it's refillable for half price for life. We love to talk up our refill program because it’s sustainable, affordable, and a fun way to try every scent in the shop. You can also fill any vessel of your own with any fragrance, any day.
We’re in the Neighborhood
We could go on and on, but the last point we’ll hit today is that we live, work, and produce locally. We care deeply about our city and community. We love to meet you in the shop, get to know you, and hear what you have to say! It’s extremely expensive to operate in San Francisco, but we love it, and we believe in building a strong community here.
