With Gratitude and a Heavy Heart:

Dear Wanderers,
Today, I find myself making a decision that weighs heavy on my heart.
After much reflection and with a broken heart, I've come to the difficult decision to close our San Diego shop. San Diego is the birthplace of Often Wander, and a place I hold countless memories of forming this business. I've poured my heart and soul into making this store a welcoming, beautiful place to come spend time, shop, get inspired, and find a haven of creativity and connection. This year, in particular, tested our strength.
We’ve been hustling to make this work, and despite our efforts, the financial, mental, and spiritual toll of the last couple of years has become overwhelming.
I want to express my immense pride and gratitude in the team here. They've weathered storms, navigated rough waters, and demonstrated incredible resilience as they represented Often Wander with lots of hard work and determination.
Our customers have been nothing short of amazing, and it pains me to bid farewell to this lovely community. San Diego holds a special place in the Often Wander journey: it's where our story began in 2012. Almost a decade of retail in this beautiful city has been a remarkable chapter in our story.
Our San Diego shop may be closing its doors, but the spirit of Often Wander will endure, and we are hopeful new doors of opportunity will open, in San Diego and beyond when the time is right.
In the spirit of optimism, I know that this shift will allow us to regroup and build back stronger than ever.
We will be offering a 20% off sale in our San Diego store on all candles, diffusers, and gift boxes. We hope you’ll come get your candles refilled, your holiday shopping done with us in person, and bid us a farewell (for now) in San Diego.
Our last day open will be December 30th, 2023. After that, you can keep buying and supporting us on our online store and in our SF store, which will remain open.
Thank you for being an integral part of our story.
With immense gratitude, and hope for the future,
Sarah
