These hand carved wooden shields come directly from Cameroon Africa. Originally used as a defensive shield they are now commonly displayed as a decorative symbol of status and wealth by the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. These shields are hand-carved from one solid piece of Baobab wood, a sacred wood used for medicinal and ritual purposes for centuries.
